a bad day for the world
if the aliens were enroute to land in washington and give us entry into the galactic community, they turned around early this morning.
the whole world is scared and sad and dissapointed in us.
i feel ashamed of my country this morning, i really do. right now we are like a drunken father who refuses to admit he has a problem... nonono, things are dandy, give us some more of that please. we gave the finger to the world because we didn't have the guts to admit we fucked up. we gave the finger to the world and it probably feels good to a lot of people.
or we just think george bush talks to jesus or some shit.
in the words of bill hicks, "how far up your ass does this guys dick have to be, before you realize that he's fucking you?"
i believe this election came down to neither issues, personalities, nor principles. it came down to psychology. i am too tired and sad to analize it more deeply, but i think the country was unwilling to admit its enormous strategic and moral mistakes. from a psychological perspective, it is easier to ignore certain facts (for example, that bush tried to prevent and independant 911 comission and then first tried to appoint HENRY MOTHERFUCKING KISSINGER to head it) then it is to reorganize your beliefs about right and wrong.
the bans on gay marriage as also disheartening. i would say that such laws are unamerican, but right now it feels like that would be a lie. such laws ARE what most americans seem to want. If they are stuck down by the supreme court then it will only have been by the protections afforded by our government that they were struck down, and that is sad in a way too. However, the cases better get there fast, because the supreme court is in big trouble, and so are we.

I too feel its a bad day. I'm shocked. And saddened.
To be truthful, I don't expect my day to day life to be affected. And I need to stop projecting my personal dissatisfaction unto Bush, even though he's totally loathsome. What's most disturbing to me is that the majority of Americans voted for Bush and apparently they don't perceive in him the same abject, plain-as-day stupidity, narrow-mindedness and cavalier attitude that I do. To me, this election says that the majority of Americans are turned-off by high-brow, high-mindedness, intellectualism, and that they're easily won over by evangelical Christian jive talk.
to Bush voters: fuck you
too many stupid people manipulated by evil people.
i am ashamed. he lied, he failed, he ruined, he killed, he won re-election.
i am having difficulty just making it through the work day.
is there any hope?
Fuck this. I'm moving. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking Libya or Lebanon or Texas.
we will be alright, friends. like we've been for the last four. that dubya bastid doesn't have to stand in the way of each of us doing our own thing, the best that we can. we still have it pretty good here in the old u.s. and a.
if nothing else, the next four years may show the american people who voted for bush that, without question, the policies of this administration are detrimental to themselves as well as the world at large. maybe it will be a well needed kick in the pants. unfortunately it may come at the expense of everybody's general welfare. if kerry were elected, there would forever be conservatives lamenting the utopia we missed out on in a second bush term. i do have the feeling, however, from the last four years that no matter what transpires people will paint bush as a hero. conservitive pride makes for quite a thick blinder to reason.
In response to the post about being alright for four years and doing our own things, I'm 21 years old. If there is a draft, I am of the ripe age to go die in Iraq. So what the fuck are my options? This war is not endind any time soon, and if Bush is who we think he is, who's to say he won't impose a draft? He doesn't give a shit about me or anyone else my age. What he cares about is pipelines. I AM NOT GOING TO DIE FOR PIPELINES. So if it does come down to it, Canada it is. Who knows, maybe I'll even get quality drugs at a fair price.
