Well, there's no doubt about it, the blog was WAY better before i started my job. I just don't do as much interesting shit as I did when I was unemployed or working just enough to scrape by. And those times when I do do something I am usually to beat or busy to write about it properly. Hell, I met a real live guru and liked him. I want to visit him in Sante Fe. And I haven't even blogged it! No time to do the experience justice. I'm looking forward to the time I can live and write and be myself more hours of the day. It'll happen. Meanwhile I bought 3 pairs of shoes on my lunch break. Basketball shoes for basketbal, cleats for ultimate, and black chucks for the office. All totally needed. I also got a digital multitrack recorder at guitar center yesterday. The fostex MR-8. I love it. The thing is a cinch to use, sounds more than nice enough for my needs, was cheap (275 new), and is just fun as hell to play around with. But there seems to be a major catch. it records onto CF cards and 128 megs can only hold 23 minutes. Which sounded fine to me, but I now know its 23 TRACK minutes-- which means you divide the number of minutes by the number of tracks. If I actually USE all eight tracks that 128mb CF card is worth three minutes... That won't do, right? A 512 card costs another 140 bux, and is only worth 12 8track-44khz/16bit minutes. As long as its ong enough for one song I should be OK, because after than I upload to the PC for mixing. On the other hand a HD recorder would be nice... and so would 16 tracks... fuck! I suffer majorly from mission creep.
